In a society where some people are far more educated than others, in which public education is ill-funded - here i am speaking of the u.S. - while we build more and more prisons to incarcerate youth who ought to be in school, there is already a gap between those with education and those without. Those with educational privilege can be seen as arrogant, remote, alien - and very often they believe themselves superior.
I said there was nothing so convincing to an indian as a general massacre. If he could not approve of the massacre, i said the next surest thing for an indian was soap and education. Soap and education are not as sudden as a massacre, but they are more deadly in the long run; because a half-massacred indian may recover, but if you educate him and wash him, it is bound to finish him some time or other.

Nothing of importance is ever achieved without discipline. I feel myself sometimes not wholly in sympathy with some modern educational theorists, because i think that they underestimate the part that discipline plays. But the discipline you have in your life should be one determined by your own desires and your own needs, not put upon you by society or authority.
All schools, all colleges, have two great functions: to confer, and to conceal, valuable knowledge. The theological knowledge which they conceal cannot justly be regarded as less valuable than that which they reveal. If there is some end of the things we do, which we desire for its own sake, clearly this must be the good. Will not knowledge of it, then, have a great influence on life? Shall we not, like archers who have a mark to aim at, be more likely to hit upon what we should? If so, we must try, in outline at least, to determine what it is.
If it's really true, that the museum at liberty university has dinosaur fossils which are labelled as being 3000 years old, then that is an educational disgrace. It is debauching the whole idea of a university, and i would strongly encourage any members of liberty university who may be here to leave and go to a proper university.
